It was just a week ago, in the charming Alpine ski resort of Chamrousse, Christophe Jobazé, a committed sportsman, carried out a unique challenge in support of the Rare Diseases Foundation.
Christophe is a nurse in Grenoble, a volunteer firefighter and a snorkeler, but above all Christophe is a man with a big heart; a person who is sensitive to the difficulties faced by people with rare diseases and who has decided to donate his time and breath for the benefit of research on rare diseases.
Around 11am, after about 20 minutes of conditioning and mental preparation, Christophe immersed himself in the 1°C water of Lake Robert at an altitude of about 2000 meters. With the help of his safety team, as freediving is a risky discipline, he then performed several freediving sessions under about 1.80 meters of ice, displaying the banner of the Foundation For Rare Diseases.
Pauline, our communications officer, was there: "It was a great joy to be able to be at Christophe's side, a way of thanking him, on behalf of all the members of the Foundation, all the researchers, patient associations and patients, for his unfailing commitment to the fight against rare diseases.
Thanks to his energy and determination, Christophe had mobilized many media and thus gave visibility to rare diseases. But the inexhaustible sportsman does not intend to stop there and is now preparing a Tour de France of apnea to promote research on rare diseases at the national level over the next few years.
