On the wild, steep trails of Reunion Island, the Grand Raid 2024 once again brought together our runners in solidarity, all united by a single goal: to run in support of research into rare diseases. This legendary event, with its various races such as La Mascareignes, Le Trail du Bourbon and the dreaded Diagonale des Fous, embodies not only physical strength, but above all solidarity, determination and hope.
This year, the Fondation Maladies Rares was able to count on the invaluable support of its solidarity runners, who turned out in force to take on this legendary race. 8 solidarity runners carried our colors over the demanding courses of this extreme competition. Their courage and commitment, over these obstacle-strewn kilometers, put the spotlight on a cause that affects thousands of people around the world.
But the impact of their participation goes far beyond the heights reached. Thanks to the inestimable generosity of our donors and the exemplary mobilization of our runners, a remarkable €26,250 was raised this year. These funds will be entirely dedicated to research, patient support and raising awareness of rare diseases. Every euro contributes to advancing science, improving the quality of life of those affected, and nurturing hope for tomorrow's solutions.
The Fondation Maladies Rares would like to extend its sincerest thanks to each of our 8 runners for their unfailing commitment. Every step they have taken on these arduous trails is a symbol of courage and resilience, carrying with it the hope of a better future for patients and their families.
To all the riders who braved this Grand Raid 2024 with extraordinary determination, we express our deepest admiration. Your passion, perseverance and solidarity are a true source of inspiration for us all. Thank you for carrying high the colors of hope and solidarity, and for giving an even deeper meaning to this human adventure.
To our valued donors, your generosity testifies to your unwavering commitment to the fight against rare diseases. Without you, none of this would be possible, and we are deeply grateful.
Last but not least, our thanks go to the entire organization of the Grand Raid de La Réunion. Thanks to your welcome and support, we have once again been able to associate our solidarity bibs with this unique and emblematic event.
Together, we have shown that even the most difficult challenges can be overcome when we unite for a cause greater than ourselves. Together, we are moving towards a future where every rare disease can look forward to better days.
