Daniel Scherman is Director of Exceptional Class Research at the CNRS, a graduate of the École Polytechnique and a Doctor of Science. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix "Emilia Valori" from the Académie des Sciences in 2017, and is a member of the European Academy of Sciences. His awards include the CNRS Silver Medal, the Neurobiology Prize of the Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale and several others. He has been Director of the Centre de Recherche Pharmaceutique de Paris and Chairman of several scientific committees. Scherman is also founder and director of the Unité de Technologies Chimiques et Biologiques pour la Santé (Chemical and Biological Technologies for Health Unit). He has contributed to numerous advances in gene therapy and led clinical trials for AMD.
