Joint ALBI and Foundation For Rare Diseases call for proposals - 3 winners selected

March 30, 2022 | News

Through its joint AAP with the Foundation For Rare Diseases, ALBI awards funding to three research projects:

- led by Prof. Jamila FAIVRE (UMR-S 1193 INSERM/Université Paris-Saclay, Hôpital Paul Brousse) and based on a large cohort of livers from patients who have undergone transplantation, this project aims to unravel the different immune subtypes of Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). It will study how the different subtypes of infiltrating immune cells might contribute to the clinical heterogeneity of the disease as well as to the tumor development.

- led by Dr. Sara LEMOINNE (UMR-S 938 INSERM/Sorbonne University, Hôpital Saint-Antoine) and using a mouse model, this project will evaluate the effect of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii (FB), a commensal bacterium of the intestinal microbiota with known anti-inflammatory properties, on PSC. In parallel, the gut microbiota of PSC patients will be analyzed to establish the possible correlation between FB abundance and disease severity.

- led by Ph. Amédée RENAND (UMR 1064 INSERM/University of Nantes, Hôtel-Dieu) and exploiting functional in vitro assays, this project will evaluate the sensitivity to steroid hormones of cells involved in hepatic autoimmunity. It will also seek to establish the relationship between blood levels of steroid hormones and autoreactive CD4 T cells with the clinical outcome of patients with autoimmune liver disease.

We warmly congratulate these three winners!
